HURRICANE HUNTER !!!

CYCLONE (1978) !!!

'I will take you to the Island where you can see beautiful coral reefs.' But, Mother Nature was in a furious mood. One tourist was vomiting and fell from the tourist boat and died. The plane crashed and the passengers were floating on the sea with the help of their life jacket. 

The Mother Nature became calm but in the middle of the sea, the struggle for survival continued.  Fish was their only food. 'We will eat it raw.' 'Water to be rationed.' Fishermen, flight passengers and tourists were all now in the same boat. 'What good will a thousand dollars do here; water is the treasure here.' The dog got killed and its meat got used as a bait. 'At last, some foods here.' 'Thanks to Christmas.' 'Push ! Push !' Monica delivered her third baby on the boat. Everyone took that baby in their own lap once. A man died and a portion of his flesh was used as a bait to catch fishes. A shark got the smell of the human flesh as a bait. The fishing rod got drowned in the sea due to that shark. No fishing rod, no food ! 

Another man died. They decided to eat that dead man's flesh to survive. A priest protested but the hungry people were too hungry to consider about any conscience. 'Cannibalism existed even before the mankind started.' 'Where was your God when Santiago died ?' 'A human flesh has all the protiens to let us survive.' They dried up the human flesh and ate them for survival. The leader of the fishermen utilized his small boat to find out any land. A ship rescued them. They fought for drinking water and the boat got drowned due to a leakage. The aircraft rescued those people who were alive after the attacks from the sharks. So many people died due to a sudden "CYCLONE".

PAK PAK PAKAAK !!!

Shraddha biswaas baadabtaat aani bheetimuley andhashradhha baadtaat. Once upon a time in the nearby forest of a village, there existed a ghost. After any bad incident, the villagers used to blame it on the ghost. 'Bhutyacha krodha !' But, humans must fear nature, otherwise, these humans will themselves destroy this planet Earth. 'Jeevan sundara aahe.' Chiklu was the naughtiest boy of that village. He lost his parents but his grandmother looked after him. There is not a single day when his grandmother has not heard complaints about him. Due to the pressure from the villagers, no one was maintaining friendship with Chiklu, except Saalu. 

One day, the school master challenged Chiklu. 'Guruji, tulaa bhutyachi bheeti baat teh kaa ?' Chiklu was exploring the forest but how he became senseless ? The villagers recovered him from the forest area and kept on scolding him. 'Devi ne tyala baachbaale.' Gaurakka, Ajje scolded him. 'Davaapatti !' Chiklu understood that there was someone inside the forest. Chiklu got a new friend and started learning lot of new things about life. 'Surprise adds a punch to life and spice comes from variety.' There was one time when a chief of a village burned down a doctor's house. Humans are too cruel. Bishaari prajaati ! Gaurakka's cow, Kalyani was too ill. Chiklu brought a medicine from where ? 'Rahasya !' Kalyani got well and Gaurakka was so happy due to Chiklu. 

Kindness, compassion are excellent virtues but knowledge is human's topmost duty.' Saalu's parents were too concerned about Saalu. Saalu was still searching for her dream man to get married with him. 'Tujhi laangi saalu ki bhulu bhulu vaalu.' Chiklu requested his friend to get married to his other friend. 'Maala sanga, tu Saalu si laagin karsil ki naai ?' The villagers requested a tantrik to teach a lesson to the ghost. 'Koi bhi ek akshar bolnaa naai. Jai Bhasmavati Devi.' Why the tantrik ran away from the village after a few minutes ? Who saved the little girl from getting drowned ? Saalu saw the saviour. Aaila, pahilya prem ! Let the fear factor of a ghost remain and side by side, let there be ayurvedic treatments for the villagers. 'Amachya gavata ek ayurveda daktaara aala !' Ala re ala, Ganpat ala. Saalu got her dream man. All the villagers were happy. Bhutya and his friend celebrated by saying, "PAK PAK PAKAAK".

ADI SHANKARACHARYA !!!

'Katha Upanishad' through 'Kathakali' dance in Krishna Temple of Kalady ! Why Yamraj was surprised about the third boon demanded by Gautamputra Nachiketa ? 'Amma, haami sannyasbhvaami.' A trick in the river and Aryamba wished that his son must remain alive even if he becomes a hermit. 

On his sannyas yatra, he realized that 'Knowledge' and 'Wisdom' are losing its values in Hindu society which was by then getting dominated by unneccesary 'Animal sacrifices', too many 'Rituals' and illogical 'Superstitions'. He marched to Omkareswar through Sringeri and Gokarn. Govindapada made him his disciple as he was too impressed with this little boy. Shankara decided to simplify and renovate the concepts of 'Badarayana Baani' and 'Brahma Upanishad'. In Kaashi, the 'Chandala' taught him a lesson that when the supreme soul is 'Brahma', which is universal, immortal whereas human body is mortal, then the concept of 'untouchability' is invalid in 'Brahma' concept. 

Bhajagovindam, bhajagovindam; atman shuddhanam; praaptehi Brahmanam; govindam paramanandam.' It was time for philosophical debate. Kumarila was the reason for his Buddhist Guru, Dharmapala's death. Kumarila's disciple Mandana Mishra also accepted defeat against Shankara in Mahishmathi, but, Mandana's wife, Ubhaybharati gave him a challenge. The parrot ate the sweet grapes and came out of the cage. Both Mandana and Ubhaybharati became his disciple. 'Bhiksham dehi kripavalambanakeri maata annupurneswari.'

The Acharya Shankara requested Padmapada, Thotaka, Sureswara and others to spread the vedic knowledge in all parts of Bharatvarsha Kingdom through 'Digvijay Yatra'. 'Brahma satyam, jagat mithya jivo bhramaiva naparah.' 'Sarvadeva namaskaram keshavam prathi gacchati.' The snow-capped Himalayas witnessed the last days of "ADI SHANKARACHARYA".

RABINDRANATH TAGORE !!! (SATYAJIT RAY'S DOCUMENTARY FILM) !!!

The Tagore dynasty has been a dynasty which has contributed a lot to enrich the Arts, Culture and Heritage of Mother India. In 1690, Job Charnok founded the city of Calcutta. In 1877, Queen Victoria became the Empress of Calcutta, the Capital City of India. The Brahmin Tagore dynasty which is pronounced as 'Thakur' in Bengali, had its roots in Kanauj. Panchanan first migrated to Bengal and then his grandson Nilmoni came to Calcutta. Nilmoni was in the Calcutta Shipping Company. Nilmoni's grandson was Dwarkanath Tagore, a man of great personality and business acumen with a royal relationship with some eminent personalities of Europe. 

Raja Rammohan Roy was a very good friend of Dwarkanath. Rammohan Roy was an icon for Dwarkanath's son, Devendranath. In those days, the word, 'Humanity' was getting accepted and respected in Europe. But, in India, the Hindu society was deteriorating due to some rituals and superstitions. Rammohan Roy brought the revolution like a true 'Raja'. He modernized the education system with some positive influences of the western education. Devendranath became 'Maharshi' by completing the incomplete writings of Raja Rammohan's ideology. The Maharshi's 14th child was Rabi. The house of Jorashanko was  itself a heritage building of Arts and Culture. Early school life was so boring for Rabi. Devendranath had a trip to Dalhousie Hill Station with Rabi. Rabi started writing poems from a very young age. Even his composed music had the influence of both western as well as classical music. 

While looking after father's estate, common people's characters gained prominence in his short stories. In Bolpur, Maharshi Devendranath created 'Shantiniketan' for meditation. Rabi started a school in Shantiniketan with ancient Gurukul style. Even his wife, Bhavatarini Devi sold some of her jewels to raise funds for the new school. But, back to back tragedies came in Rabi's life. 'Iti Mrinalini.' He lost his wife, one daughter and one son. Like him, Bengal was also passing through a tragedy of 'Partition' due to 'Cunning Curzon'. His pen became a sword of patriotism. A Mahatma came to know about another Mahatma during Rowlatt Act Protest. To know about how to improve the education system in Shantiniketan, Rabi went to Europe along with some translated versions of his own work, 'Gitanjali'. Yeats found it too impressive to be published. In 1913, the poet got Nobel Prize and the Knighthood in 1915. 

Martial law got implemented in Punjab. Dyer ordered to fire. After the Jalianwalabagh incident in 1919, the Nobel Laureate returned the Knighthood as a historical symbol of patriotic protest. He always used to preach about peace and intellectual cooperation among nations. He transformed the educational school of Shantiniketan to a University, named as 'Viswabharati'. 'Yatra Viswam Bhavatyekanidam.' Not only he was gaining popularity worldwide, also the education system of 'Viswabharati.' An education system for paintings also started in Shantiniketan where a famous painter, Nandalal Bose used to teach the young students. Many persons from foreign nations came to Shantiniketan to learn and teach. Even a Handicrafts Center started at Shurul which is just at a 2 miles distance from Shantiniketan. The poet liked to stay in small cottage type houses and used to roam from one room to the other. 

With age, the word 'Creativity' was getting more creative in the poet's mind, but, this time, in the form of several types of paintings along with the poems. On his 70th Birthday, 'The Golden Book of Tagore' was published under the sponsorship of Germany's Albert Einstein, India's Acharya Jagadish Chandra Bose, India's Mahatma Gandhi and other two famous Europeans. Acharya Jagadish Chandra Bose has been the poet's one of the best friends for 40 long years. Mahatma Gandhi knew the revolutionary poet as a devotee of 'Peace' and 'Non Violence' like him. Art is a psychological science to define Science as a progressive modern Art. What a friendship it would have been between Albert and Rabi. But, before dying at the age of 80 years, he saw a 'Crisis in Civilization' in Europe. Hitler's cruelty brought chaos and deaths. But, the poet was optimistic about peace again. The rich heritage of Poems, Music and Verses will never perish, though, 1941 was the death year of a legend, "RABINDRANATH TAGORE".

Keya surely recieved a love letter from her beloved person. SIKKIM !!! (SATYAJIT RAY'S DOCUMENTARY FILM)

Can you spot a small kingdom in the world map, surrounded by Nepal, Bhutan and Tibet. The Himalayas are still so young as it keeps on growing. Once upon a time, Palden Thondup Namgyal was the King or Chogyal of a Kingdom. The American lady, Hope Cooke was the Queen or Gyalmo of that Kingdom. Beautiful orchids or flowers in the forests ! Beautiful scenic beauty of the hills ! 90% of the people of that Kingdom used to live in the valleys. Farming was done on a large scale of crops like wheat, barley, rice, potato and maize. Along the Teesta river, two towns grew up, one is Lachen and another one is Lachung. Ropeways were there at that time, but, for transportation of goods only. 

Though, Chumthang market developed at a much later stage, but, in those days, on every Sunday, people used to gather at a market at Namchi. The Lepchas, the Nepalese, the Tibetans and the Bhutias used to live in this Kingdom with peace and harmony. The Nepalese people were Hindu and remained as Hindu people after settling down in this region. Buddhism was the main religion of this Kingdom. Pemayangtse monastery was one of the oldest monastaries of this Kingdom where devotees used to come and take blessings from the Tibetan Llamas. The ribbon tied at the neck of the devotees was a symbol of blessings from the Llamas. Gangtok also started to develop at that time and Lal Bazar became a busy marketplace. 

Education was free for all. The then Government used to spend a large amount of money for free education to all. What a beautiful and refreshing sight it was to see the students coming towards the school with a sweet smiling face ! Every year, on the month of December, the ground of Tsuklakhang Palace was opened to the public for the Kagyed festival. It is a festival to burn all the evil forces of the past. The Llamas perform the Cham dance as Mahakala with a masked face. Free lunch was provided to all on the festival day. Everyone used to enjoy Rice, Pork and Chaang. Chaang is a local drink served in a glass made of bamboo and a straw is used to drink it. At least once in a lifetime, one must visit the sweet and beautiful Kingdom of "SIKKIM".
